Crysis 2 ROM Description

Crysis 2 is the sequel to Crysis – the “most cutting-edge benchmarking tool” released on PC in 2007. The game was once again developed by Crytek and released in 2011 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The in-game events are a continuation of the first part. The game is set in New York City, where the Ceph have begun attacking humanity and all of Manhattan is affected by a virus that has put the area under martial law enforced by a PMC group called Cell. You take on the role of a marine named Alcatraz who is deployed into the city to rescue an important scientist named Nathan Gould.

Your submarine is destroyed by the Ceph but fortunately, you are saved by Prophet, one of the main characters from the previous parts, who has been fighting the Ceph in Manhattan all this time. Prophet has been infected by the virus and he decides to give you his Nanosuit armor before dying. Now assimilated with the Nanosuit armor, you continue the mission to find the scientist, who can help defeat the Ceph.

Crysis 2 takes a lot of fictional liberties with the plot. It tries to explain how the Nanosuit works and introduces various characters with ambiguous motives. There are multiple subplots throughout the campaign, some not very logical but fitting with the style of the series. These games feel more like Hollywood blockbuster movies than video games. You have the Ceph attacking iconic locations like Times Square and Central Park, skyscrapers being destroyed, huge alien spaceships flying between buildings.

The early chapters focus on reconnaissance and taking out small Cell troops, but the second half of the game has you fighting alongside the military as the city is evacuated, in gigantic battles against the overwhelming Ceph forces. There are even segments where you drive vehicles destroying everything in your way with explosive weapons.
