Yo-kai Watch is a strange game series that Nintendo has developed. While on the surface, it appears to be another attempt to use the successful formula from Pokémon, Yo-kai Watch is almost completely different right down to the gameplay mechanics and battle system.

After a fairly successful first part, we have Yo-kai Watch 2 here. The game has two versions, Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls, with basically the same content. What’s different is that you can get the starter Yo-kai. This article is about Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls.

The game starts right after the end of the first part, and it is now summer vacation. While your character sleeps, two mysterious Yo-kai steal your Yo-kai Meter and your Yo-kai memories. But not long after that, you found the watch again and met Whisper – the Yo-kai butler and the lovely Jibanyan. Exciting events take place consecutively and then pull you into a memorable adventure.

The gameplay remains largely the same, with some additions and changes. The battle involves 6 Yo-Kai in the team, with 3 in the front fighting automatically. Although you don’t have direct control, you can instruct your team on specific targets, swap during battle, and activate their Ultimate moves.

Simple matches can even be sped up so they never get boring, and boss battles can get quite intense as you manage your team.

Yo-Kai Watch 2 looks great on the 3DS. While the graphics are largely the same as the first game, there are visual upgrades and, surprisingly, environmental detail. The map has been significantly improved to be more useful and the attacks are impressive and fun. It all comes together in a great package and a great atmosphere.
