Your special watch has a radar that shows Yo-Kai is hiding. The game has more than 200 different types of Yo-Kai to collect and combine. You can also upgrade your meter later to find more powerful Yo-Kai. Overall, we had a lot of fun activities to do during the game.

The battle system is the big difference between Yo-Kai Watch and Pokémon. You have a wheel of 6 Yo-Kai members. You need to rotate it to choose a squad in battle. However, you don’t really control the attacks. Most actions and skills in battle are automatic.

The most important thing you need to do is keep track of the Yokai’s health and spiritual bars. When the spirituality bar is full, you can activate a special skill. That’s really the only attack you control, and it will have minigames where you tap bubbles or draw pictures to attack.

The entire game is filled with the cuteness of the environment and diverse NPCs system. It is the selling point of the game. The world is huge and really fascinating; you can explore everywhere, and there’s always something random to do on your journey. Much of the world is available from the start, so you can wander around looking for Yo-Kai before doing any quests.

Yo-Kai Watch isn’t as classic as Pokémon as it introduces some more unique and dynamic mechanics. It also uses an interesting theme that fits with Western culture.
