In 2013, Pokemon X and Y were released on the Nintendo 3DS, completely changing everything when it comes to the Pokemon franchise. They were the first official Pokemon titles published for this system, bringing the series to the 3D platform. Now you can download the CIA ROM file of the game to enjoy it again on a Nintendo 3DS emulator without needing the original system.

Story

3,000 years ago, the Kalos region engaged in a war in which the king of Kalos lost his beloved Pokémon, Floette. Desperate, he developed a giant machine that brought Floette back to life, but Floette eventually left him because it saw all the destruction the machine caused. Later, in modern times, Team Flare wants to restore that machine and use it to wipe out humanity. Why? According to Lysandre, the boss of Team Flare, humans pollute the world, and he wants to preserve the beauty found in Kalos.

Most of this game follows the same structure as other Pokemon versions. A professor gives you a small creature and assigns you the task of defeating an entire criminal organization. The starters of this generation are actually quite great, but the starter Pokemon are divisive. Fennekin and Chespin do not seem good enough compared to Greninja.

Many upgrades to graphics and gameplay

Pokemon X and Y bring the first major change in the series – the ability to customize your character. Instead of choosing your character’s gender to start the game, we have many different options to fine-tune your appearance. Later in the game, you can buy new clothes from stores to further customize your look. The game provides various options to upgrade your character’s appearance, from hats and clothes to glasses, shoes, bags, etc.

The graphics of X & Y also made a big step forward. Unlike previous versions that used 2D top-down views or partially rendered 3D models, X and Y have fully 3D models and environments. One of the biggest additions is Mega Evolution. It allows some Pokemon to evolve into a Mega form using a special item temporarily.

Other changes to the battle system include the addition of sky battles, where trainers can only battle with flying Pokemon. Besides that, you can also engage in battles with multiple wild Pokemon at once.

Conclusion

After a period of stagnation following the 3rd generation (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald), the Pokemon game series has returned to its golden age. The Pokemon X/Y version is truly a breath of fresh air for the series with many core improvements to gameplay along with an excellent graphics platform. Whether you’re a fan of Pokemon or not, X/Y is still very much worth experiencing right now.
