Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits for 3DS is an excellent sequel to the first game. It fixes most of the problems and implements a completely fresh and engaging storyline. If you have never played a game in this series, this is the best place to start.

Yo-Kai Watch takes place in a fictional town called Springdale in Japan. You control a boy named Nate, who inherits a watch that allows him to see and communicate with spirits called Yo-kai. Yo-kai come in many different forms but are all inspired by Japanese folklore. Some Yo-kai like to cause trouble in town and it’s your job to solve those problems. Along the way, you will fight, train, and capture various Yo-kai to expand your journey.

Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits brings back the battle system from the original Yo-Kai Watch. You can use 6 different Yo-kai in battle but only 3 can participate at the same time. You can rotate the wheel to change the active Yo-kai.

This version introduces over 350 different Yo-kai species for you to collect and upgrade. You can find them anywhere. The game’s turn-based combat system allows you to summon and fuse many types of Yo-kai together to level up and evolve in battle. Online play mode is also available for you to connect and play with friends. (Of course this mode is not available when you play on a 3DS emulator).
