Devil May Cry HD Collection includes Devil May Cry 1, 2, and 3 Special Edition. If you are new to the series, all three titles feature very similar action gameplay, with only minor differences in the overall gameplay loop between them. Most fans of the series consider the third entry to be the best in this collection, the second to be the worst, and the first to be somewhere in the middle.

The game series revolves around a mercenary named Dante, who is equipped with two pistols and a sword. You’ll slash, chop, and perform combos to make your way through the levels. There are some light puzzle elements throughout the games, but the main draw is still the fast-paced action gameplay. The games are broken down into missions, and while you have a linear objective to complete in each mission, you usually have a fairly large area to explore. There are also plenty of secrets and collectibles for you to find throughout the games.

The games are fairly difficult, however, they all feature an easy mode after you die a few times, so you can lower the difficulty to get a feel for the game and then raise it once you’re ready. Once you get good at the game, it becomes very satisfying as you try to achieve the highest combos possible and complete the levels as fast as you can. Every time you finish a battle and every time you finish a mission, you are graded, so trying to get an S rank can be very rewarding for newcomers or long-time fans.

Keep in mind that the games in the Devil May Cry HD Collection were released in the early to mid-2000s, so there are still some issues with that style and era of gameplay. The games have camera issues across all three entries, although the first and third have been tweaked more. However, aside from the classic nature of some of these older titles, the experiences playing on a PS3 Emulator are still very good.
