Fire Emblem Fates takes you into the battle for power between two kingdoms. That’s why we have two versions: Conquest and Birthright. These two options are for fighting for the Nohr kingdom and the Hoshido kingdom respectively. The two versions have the same story until chapter 6, and that’s when you have to make an important choice to fight for one of these two kingdoms. Your character is stuck between choosing the people he’s been with since childhood in Conquest or choosing the blood family he just met in Birthright. At that point in the story, that choice is really close.

Fire Emblem Fates Conquest is the version where you will decide to be with the people who raised you since childhood. These were people you had called family, brothers and sisters for so many years, betraying them felt so wrong. It means you will fight for the kingdom of Nohr and seek to bring peace to all.

Conquest’s gameplay is more difficult than Birthright and Awakening in every aspect. It doesn’t give you the opportunity to grind for experience whenever you want. You have to really play smart because the goal isn’t just to kill them all. You have to eliminate a certain amount of turns in some chapters, you have to defend an area on the map or defeat a boss, and the enemies are much stronger. Winning battles also gives very little money to buy better equipment. Overall, you have to play a lot more cunningly in Conquest.
