All events in Final Fantasy XII take place in the land of Ivalice, where different nations vie for dominance on the map. King Raminas’s daughter, Princess Ashe, was married to Lord Rasler as a previous tacit agreement. However, the wedding ceremony is darkened by bad news from the nation’s borders – Arcadia has begun to invade. Rasler set out to defend his country and died in the first battle, followed by the death of the King of Dalmasca, and Arcadia occupied the country. Princess Ashe was able to escape, and with the support of the Dalmasca general and her surviving subjects, she immediately began preparing for a retaliation against the invaders.

Perhaps no other role-playing game genre has a better origin than Final Fantasy 12. The game was in development for many years and was officially released on the Play Station system in 2001.
