SingStar ROM Description

The SingStar game series has existed for quite a long time and during that time many different versions have been released on family gaming systems. SingStar for PS2 released in 2004 is considered the best game in the series.

Setting up SingStar is quite simple, you just need one or two mics and a USB converter, then just connect the mics to the converter and plug it into the front USB port of the PlayStation 2 and start enjoying the songs.

To get started, you need to choose the mode you like. In solo mode, you can sing all the songs by yourself or with another player. This is the default option but there are other play modes to enjoy as well. In single mode, you can choose one or two players then enter your name and select easy, medium or hard difficulty before singing along to the tunes on screen.

Each song comes with illustrative images and a short clip for recognition. When you’ve chosen a song, you can select the full or short version. I advise against choosing the short version because it will cut the song midway leaving you quite disappointed.

Take note of your mic color and follow the lyrics to know when to start. As the song plays, the lyrics will change color to indicate which words to sing and at what specific timing. The performance bar will also light up to show how long you should hold a note. It also indicates if your pitch is too high or too low by displaying a line above or below the performance bar.

Singing the right notes and lengths will earn you more points. At the end of the song, your total score will be calculated and judge how well you sang.

Star Maker mode is where you become a pop music star yourself. You can go through different locations, singing any song you like from the list. This is a solo event, perfect if you enjoy singing karaoke alone and see if you can make it to the top.
