Super Mario Odyssey is an absolute masterpiece, and no game has ever surpassed it. Even six years after its launch, it is still crushing new games.

The gameplay of Super Mario Odyssey is impressive because of the freedom Mario has thanks to his many jumps and the many options he can use to overcome obstacles. For example, you can use the ball Bullet to go faster and easier, or you cannot use the Ball Bullet and jump high to reach the platform without it. Moves like rolling, flipping, and more make your movements feel very free, and it feels like your turns are truly your own.

Now, let’s talk about Mario’s abilities. You can transform into a pigeon in this game. You can transform into a Tyrannosaurus dinosaur. You could be a tree, no, I don’t think you could really be a tree. Just kidding, you can transform into many other things. And the great part about those abilities is not just that you can be those things but what you can do when you become them. For example, when you become a pigeon, not only can you fly and peck, but you can also spin and hover in the air. And that’s just one character. Now imagine each character has those same abilities, and each new character is very different.

The background music is really great. You can listen to peaceful melodies in the Sea Kingdom. There are powerful, unique melodies in Bowser’s Kingdom that match the flickering lights. Then, there are the bridge bells, flutes, and violins in Tuyet. Although the songs are very different, they still fit the game. I can’t list all the great songs in the game, so please enjoy them while playing.

Even after completing the game, Super Mario Odyssey still offers plenty to do with the addition of the Moon and the new Balloon World mode. Super Mario Odyssey deserves to be the best game of all time.
