Shadow of the Colossus ROM: Some things are bigger than our dreams, given more possibilities than we can all imagine, because of the fear of what might happen. Every era in human history has faced a colossal beast, a giant whose darkness obscures the ability to understand, confront, or kill it.

Every once in a while, a game comes along that pushes the boundaries of video games to new heights, and Shadow of the Colossus did just that.

A young warrior enters a magnificent temple, carrying with him a girl we thought was dead. He placed the girl on the altar and prayed for her soul to return. A resounding voice agreed if the conditions were met. Those conditions were quite harsh; he had to destroy the Colossus, a race of heavy giants that covered the landscape. The colossus represents fear, the unknown, and hate—the stuff that lived in your closet as a child. You can choose your own horror.

You feel he will do anything to get back his lost lover’s soul. The game gives off the feeling that this mission is really difficult.

With no time to rest, he is fighting for the only thing he believes in: love. Each colossus requires different tactics and strategies. The huge size of the enemy makes you overwhelmed and sometimes scared.

No reinforcements, no special powers, no grenades—it’s just you and your character facing the Colossus. You’ll fight in a series of impressive environments, all close to the temple where your sleeping lover is located. A strong point of the game lies in the complete silence of civilization. It is a solemn universe, lacking the noise and distractions of the human world. It’s just you, a dead girl, an invisible voice, a horse, and a bunch of big things covered with what looks like the furniture of this world.

It is a hero’s journey deep into himself, where fear disappears to reveal beauty. Now you can recreate this epic feeling by enjoying the game on a PS2 emulator.
