Need for Speed: Most Wanted ROM Description

In 2005, Need for Speed: Most Wanted was released and as usual for EA, it was launched on many available platforms at that time such as Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, GameCube, PlayStation 2, PSP, PC, original Xbox and Xbox 360. This article allows you to download the PS2 emulator ROM file for this game. If you want to check out other versions, please CLICK HERE.

The game starts with you moving to the fictional city of Rockport with your heavily modified BMW M3 GTR, where you meet Police Chief Cross who was about to arrest you but luckily he got a radio call about other street racers and left you alone. In a pink slip race, your car ran out of engine oil and broke down due to lack of oil. You lost the race and your car. Moreover, you were arrested. Afterwards, Mia bailed you out and pointed you to how to get your car back, and everything you do in the game is to get it back, with limited money from the races.

There are three things you have to do in Most Wanted: win races against others, complete milestone events, and earn a certain amount of bounty. Milestone events are where you have to do things like getting a speeding ticket or completing an objective in a police chase.

What makes many races easy is the speed breaker feature, which allows you to slow down time and improve handling a bit but it doesn’t last long. I usually use it on sharp corners and then use all the nitro to extend the gap with opponents.

Most event types are carried over from Underground 1 and 2 but drift was removed. The developers did add new event types like tollbooths and speed traps, both of which are great.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is one of the best ideas ever seen in any racing game regarding progression, because it has a storyline. In other racing games, you just race, buy cars, upgrade them and repeat, sometimes feeling like you’re not getting anywhere, but defeating a blacklist racer and moving up gives a better sense of progression than winning a championship in Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport.

Since this is an open world racing game, there are two types of AI. Opponents can be hard to beat at times but they also make mistakes, helping you win. But there is rubberbanding, so if you get far ahead in a race because an opponent crashes, they may be right behind you by the end. Rubberbanding is there to make the racing as close and exciting as possible. You can turn it off but not in career mode.

The other AI is traffic, and sometimes they break laws but I don’t think that was intentional. I think the developers just didn’t set the paths properly. That’s what happens when you only have a year to develop a game and most time was probably spent building the map.

There are three different areas that you unlock at different points in the game. All three areas of the map look completely distinct and have a lot of landscape diversity.

The map layout and overall look is better than the map in Underground 2 but Most Wanted takes place during daytime, which the previous two titles didn’t have. The game also lacks a day-night cycle.

The developers added many new car types to Most Wanted. In Underground 1 and 2, you mostly just had cars popular in the street racing scene and Underground 2 also had some SUVs which I thought shouldn’t be in the game. But in this game, they added more sports cars and supercars like the Aston Martin DB9 and Porsche 911. Every car in the game feels right, not just there to pad the car list like in modern Need for Speed games.

As a Need for Speed game, you can modify and customize your car and do almost anything to it. I say almost because the amount of customization has decreased from the previous two games, which isn’t bad since car culture moved on and spinners and neon lights on cars weren’t as accepted anymore. The game also only takes place during day so neon lights weren’t as important anymore.
