Fire Emblem ROM Description
Fire Emblem GBA is a big step forward for the Fire Emblem franchise as it is the first Fire Emblem to be released in North America and the rest of the world. The game has been remade to be more accessible, which is actually the right move.
Story and Characters
Fire Emblem GBA has a very unique storyline with three main characters. Eliwood is a prince searching for his kidnapped father. Hector has been Eliwood’s best friend since childhood and will always be by his side to help him overcome difficulties. Lyn is a child born into the tribe without knowing she has royal blood. The fourth main character that I forgot to mention is a custom character created by the player.
The plots of these characters gradually intertwine and become more complex. The storyline has three separate strands, and the custom character is a perfect move, really immersing players in the world of Fire Emblem.
Gameplay
Fire Emblem GBA still retains the series’ signature turn-based tactical gameplay. You move units on the board to fight enemies. This is a completely new style of play for me. When I was young, I thought I would directly control combat units, not just give orders. Even though I know that’s not the case, I still imagine it because it’s very interesting.
The gameplay system is completely new and unique. The great thing is that the tutorial spans ten chapters, is very detailed, and is suitable for both new and old players.
In Fire Emblem, you can recruit enemy units with your own units. This has always been my favorite thing about Fire Emblem. Units with previous relationships can talk and recruit each other. It’s a very interesting tactical element.
Visuals
Visually, Fire Emblem GBA is similar to its predecessor but a bit more beautiful. There’s nothing noteworthy, but I like the detail of the characters looking straight at the screen when talking to you instead of looking at each other as usual. This helps you become more immersed in the game.
Conclusion
Fire Emblem GBA is a great game, and in my opinion, it is one of the best Fire Emblems. It is very easy to play and suitable for beginners, but it still retains the core elements of the series.
