Metro 2033 Redux is a first-person shooter game from 4a Games Studio. This game is based on the novel Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

The story takes place in the context of post-apocalyptic Russia; the last survivors must live underground in the metro stations of Moscow. The surface has become uninhabitable due to radiation, and mutated creatures roam the ruined streets. The main character Artyom, an ordinary guy with a special ability, is trying to survive a nuclear disaster. Not long after, Artyom is drawn into a long and dangerous journey through subway stations. This journey will have major implications for himself, the other survivors, and the future of the mysterious creatures known as the Dark Ones.

How is the game played? Metro 2033 is a first-person shooter with a focus on stealth. The game world is dark and claustrophobic in the underworld, full of people struggling to survive after the nuclear disaster. The game is linear, not open world; each level is part of a journey with a linear path from start to finish, but later on, there will be some branching options.

To survive, you have a gas mask and filter when going through dangerous areas. You have a flashlight with a rechargeable battery; there are also many different types of ammo, such as primitive bullets and high-quality military ammo, used mainly to buy items from merchants in subway stations. You can carry up to three guns, and each gun can be customized by attaching a new scope, barrel, or even a pistol.

The enemies in the game are very diverse, on the ground you have to face mutant creatures, underground you have to confront Fascist forces, Red Communists, bandits and even supernatural creatures. Each enemy type requires a different approach, creating a diverse and exciting set of combat situations.

In terms of graphics, the game looks outstanding. The character models and environments are quite detailed, and the small details about people’s daily lives in the subway stations make the game world come alive. You can hear conversations, see people cooking around campfires, and listen to music, creating a feeling of nostalgia for a lost world and everyone sadly trapped underground.

The background music is fantastic; one of the best melodies I’ve ever heard in a game. It’s very dark and tragic, which fits the atmosphere. The sound effects are also very good and the voice acting is high quality.
