Color is one of several new features added to the original Gunpey in its immediate successor, Gunpey EX.

Now, you may receive bonus points for matching lines of the same color, in addition to the traditional method of completing lines across the field. The color green, blue, and red lines have replaced the gray ones.

Aside from a narrative mode, all of the game modes in Gunpey EX are identical to those in the original. The goal of the Time Attack mode is to clear the board of all tiles in two or five minutes. The player has an infinite amount of time in endless mode to get any score they choose. There is a predetermined amount of time and a fixed number of tiles to remove in stage mode. In puzzle mode, you’re tasked with removing a certain set of tiles; by rearranging the tiles on the board, you may alter the color of the lines.

Through a combination of a mobile phone and the WonderGate, this game gained access to the internet, allowing it to communicate with a global leaderboard.
