This is the follow-up to Digimon Adventure 02: D1 Tamers, and it’s based on the famous Digimon manga. The action in one level carries over onto the next without any cutscenes. The hero Ryou was informed of a terrible secret by the villain Millenniumon during their ongoing last confrontation, and then a tremendous explosion occurred. In a mysterious location, Ryou regains consciousness. The lone digital monster there tells him that the explosion sent Millenniumon racing into the future and Ryou careening backwards in time. Now that Millenniumon has taken over Digiworld’s main computer, Ryou must stop him and uncover the truth about his archenemy’s identities before he can take control permanently.

Following in the footsteps of its forerunners, you guide your hero from a top-down view as they go into dungeons, engage in turn-based battle with monsters, enlist them into your party, and then launch them against new foes. You can no longer see the battles as isometric images; instead, they are presented in an anime format. There are animated segments that show attacks as well.
