Uncharted: Golden Abyss ROM Description
Set in the jungles of Central America, Golden Abyss is a prequel to the first Uncharted, though you won’t find most of the series’ usual suspects involved this time around. This time, Drake is working with an old partner named Dante, and he eventually crosses paths with a beautiful young archaeologist named Chase. It seems the massacre of a Spanish expedition centuries ago has revealed clues that could lead to the discovery of another lost city. Betrayal, revenge, and rivalry all boil down to a plot that keeps the story dense without becoming an all-out war.
The game is split into 34 chapters that will take you around 10 hours, and with multiple difficulty settings, it’s a bit shorter than the console versions without feeling like a rip-off. If you’ve played previous Uncharted games, the design is instantly recognizable. There are frequent checkpoints to ease the difficulty, and the path ahead is almost always clear. There are level designs that go up, down, and in all directions. There are even some branching paths here that allow you to discover dozens of hidden gems in the game.
If you’re looking for a good game to enjoy on your Vita, Golden Abyss is a solid choice. It may not quite reach the same heights as its console brethren, but it’s still a solid game overall. It succeeds with textures, lighting, particles, and environmental effects that are far superior to anything we’ve seen on a handheld, and the gameplay is a seamless blend of adventure, platforming, and third-person shooter.
