Steins Gate ROM Description

Steins;Gate is a video game based on a Japanese science fiction novel of the same name, developed by 5pb. and Nitro+. The gameplay of Steins;Gate is quite different from what you would expect as it requires minimal player interaction and for most of the gameplay, you will be reading text. The only interaction you have is when the game presents you with text message options to respond to from the protagonist’s friends, which will alter the outcome of the game. This is called the phone trigger system.

The story revolves around a group of students comprising Okabe, Mayuri, Hashida, Kurisu, Luka, Faris and Moeka as they discover and develop technology that allows them to alter the past. I can say the game combines the butterfly effect with some interesting physics concepts. It also uses quite a lot of pop culture references, some real, some fictional, explained throughout the gameplay, making you believe everything the game is telling you. The depth is mindblowing.

The choices you make in the game will trigger different endings as I mentioned earlier. There are 6 different endings but only one is called the true ending. To get all the endings, you will need to spend around 24 hours of gameplay. Of course, this depends on your reading speed.

One of the things that kept me playing was the fact that I was so immersed in the story and characters that I couldn’t stop playing. I dreamed about the game, the characters, their lives. I thought about Steins;Gate every time I finished one of the six endings. I went back to earlier saves and changed decisions to see how the outcome would differ. I didn’t stop until I had all six endings.

You can feel the passion the developers poured into the game through the music, voice acting, and story. You will care about these characters and worry for them. Not every game can elicit that emotion from you. This is one of those games that will make you tear up at the end and it definitely deserves to always be in your PSP ROM collection.
