Additional information
Designed and produced by Nintendo, the portable gaming console Pokémon Mini (stylized Pokémon Mini) is based on the Pokémon media franchise. Weighting slightly under two and a half ounces (70 grams), it is the smallest gaming system Nintendo has ever created with replaceable cartridges. First published in North America on November 16, 2001, it subsequently made appearances in Japan on December 14, 2001, and Europe on March 15, 2002. The systems came in three colors: Smoochum Purple, Chikorita Green, and Wooper Blue.
An internal real-time clock, an infrared connector used to enable multiplayer gameplay, an accelerometer, and a vibrator used to provide force feedback are among the features of the Pokémon Mini. Via console emulation, the Nintendo GameCube game Pokémon Channel offers playable versions of various Pokémon mini-games. Additionally incorporated into the game is Snorlax’s Lunch Time, a Pokémon Channel exclusive. Some games, including Togipis Adventure, were exclusively published in Japan.
Using the aforementioned emulator in Pokémon Channel, some hackers have reverse-engineered the Pokémon mini to enable the development of homebrew games and let official games be played on other platforms (such as a PC, Dreamcast, and several others).
