Adam, the twelve-year-old son of Noah Greene, a well-known environmentalist, is the character that the player assumes in EcoQuest: The Search for Cetus. Adam is the protagonist of the game. In the course of one day, his father saves a dolphin from a fish net that had been abandoned. As Adam develops a closer relationship with the creature, he is astounded to learn that the dolphin is capable of communicating verbally. Upon further investigation, Adam discovers that his new companion is Delphineus, the messenger of Cetus, the king of whales. As a scuba diver who has completed his training, Adam has been selected to explore the underwater kingdom of creatures known as Eluria and provide assistance to the people who live there.
