A return of Indiana Jones! With the help of his reliable whip, astute intellect, and bravery, the legendary adventurer and archeologist must once again unravel a huge enigma. A specific old sculpture piques the curiosity of a guy going by the name of Mr. Smith. As soon as Indy delivers it over to the customer, he discovers that Mr. Smith is actually a Nazi army colonel! For what reason did that statue pique his interest? Sophia, a young woman with red hair who had previously collaborated with Indy but is now rather disruptive, assures him that the fabled lost land of Atlantis must be involved. Along with Sophia, Indy sets out on a magnificent adventure throughout the world in search of clues. A puzzle-solving adventure game inspired by the Indiana Jones films, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis introduces a whole new plot that is not based on any one film. The game makes use of LucasArts’ SCUMM technology, where the player may select action verbs from a menu; interactive items are highlighted. Variegated puzzles (mainly involving inventories) and multiple-choice dialogues abound in the game. Some of the Nazis’ more straightforward hand-to-hand battles are also avoidable. The game’s middle section offers three playable “modes”: action (Indy solo, with less riddles) and co-op (Indy and Sophia). There are new worlds to explore, riddles to solve, and characters to encounter in every playthrough mode. Audio commentary is included in every dialogue in the CD version of the game.
