May 15, 1984. Shortly after a dubious transaction, two men walk inside a pub. They are undercover police officers, and the criminal runs from the pub when he sees them. His motorbike skims through town, and the undercover police officers’ pick-up vehicle can’t keep up with him as he over a fence and enters an open field. But something extremely significant was left behind by him during his escape. Someone breaks into one of the agents’ houses three days later. An unidentified hitman viciously kills John and Jackie Ryan inside. Jake, their kid, observes everything that is concealed from view from his parent’s chamber closet. After living with his grandmother for the last eleven years, Jake Ryan re-enters the Academy and excels academically. Even though John’s closest friend and private investigator Lyle Jamison did all in his power to apprehend the perpetrators, the killing of his parents remained unsolved. After joining the Jackson Beach Police Department, Jake finds out that there may be stolen National Guard guns in the neighborhood. One evening, he notices something that seems to point to the truth. Blue Force, created by the man behind Police Quest, Jim Walls, is an adventure game that plays a lot like his earlier Sierra titles and incorporates actual police protocols into the action. Its well designed backdrops and meticulously chosen sprites that are overlayed with video footage serve as visual cues that are reminiscent of late SCI engine games. The UI is different, though, with the player’s whole inventory located at the bottom of the screen and the right button being used to access the walk, look, chat, and use activities.
