DuckTales was developed by Capcom and released on September 14, 1989. It is an NES platform game based on the original animated series DuckTales. The game always brings a lot of nostalgia to gamers because of its great background music and good level design. DuckTales: Remastered is a remake of the original game and was released on Wii U. The game maintains the spirit of its predecessor but adds many valuable upgrades.

Story

The plot is simple and fun, just what it should be. It all started when Scrooge McDuck’s house was invaded by the Beagle Boys. After driving them off and saving his nephew, Scrooge discovers them looking at an old portrait in the house. He soon discovered a treasure map in the picture frame. There are five treasures around the world – the Moon, Amazon, Transylvania, African mines, and the Himalayas. Scrooge and the other characters set out to find those five treasures.

Gameplay

DuckTales Remastered is still a faithful remake of the original. It retains the NES version’s clean gameplay and smooth movements. Everything moves perfectly so when you lose, it’s usually your fault, rarely the game design.

The level design is also very good, comparable to the classic Mega Man series. The game has that old NES platforming feel, and even the boss battles at the end of each level.

Graphics and Audio

DuckTales’ graphics are solid, and the new characters stand out. The game updates the pixel art style from the NES to a cartoony style that looks great on the Wii U.

The music in the game is great. They incorporated the original nostalgic melody into the game’s modern world. But instead of just doing covers, they actually add new melodies, making the songs better and have more depth. Especially the melody of the Moon and the credits, it’s really good. The voice acting is also very good, along with the original cast from the movie, and the animation style makes you feel like you are watching anime.

DuckTales Remastered is really fun and worth playing again on your Wii U emulator.
