Overcooked 2 launches on Nintendo Switch on August 7, 2018. This sequel looks like a DLC pack for the original Overcooked but you’ll quickly realize this is a great sequel and more than just DLC.

The initial changes to the game lie in the dishes you cook. There is a big theme surrounding sushi right from the start in this game. Typically, creating sushi dishes requires three ingredients that can be placed in any order. These are really just cosmetic changes, not really altering the dishes and their ingredients to change the gameplay. Instead, the real reason this game is a sequel comes from the upgrades in the levels. Current stages or levels can dynamically interact and change continuously. Each stage can start in the air on a hot air balloon and then end on the ground at the end of the level. You can even collide two separate kitchens together to create one kitchen. This ever-changing kitchen system really keeps you on your toes, making the act of cooking more chaotic than ever.

A new mechanism is the risk and reward system. You can throw ingredients toward your teammates or toward the dish you’re trying to cook, and hope to hit the target, saving time and getting a better score. But if you throw wrong and miss, it can cause you to lose time or even lose the level.

One of Overcooked 2’s biggest changes is the addition of online multiplayer. This was one of the most requested features of the original version. For the first time, Overcooked will support online multiplayer play.

Overall, Overcooked 2 is a sequel instead of just DLC like many people think, and it does everything very well. The game looks really fun with many interesting activities that are really suitable for those who love cooking.
