The pixel art graphic style and elevated, almost top-down vision give Crypt of the NecroDancer its roguelike dungeon crawler feel. The gameplay revolves around the idea of a rhythm game, yet it incorporates traditional features like exploring, looting, and fighting foes. If you use the game’s soundtrack or your music, timing your moves to the rhythm makes a huge difference. Four buttons or keys allow you to move around, but you may also use a dance pad if you like. These control the character’s movement and, when near an enemy, their assault. Furthermore, enemies also strike and move in sync with the music, and you’ll need to learn their specific patterns to defeat them. For example, you may be able to unlock a prisoner’s cell by finding or purchasing a key, or you may be able to unlock more challenging stages in return for prizes. The protagonist can equip a wide variety of weapons and skills throughout the game. A multitude of hearts adorns the figure, standing for well-being.
