Streets of Rage 2 on the Genesis is one of the greatest fighting games of all time. The game’s plot takes place 1 year after the events of part 1. Honestly, the plot is not that important because this is just a fighting game, you go through stages and fight, that’s it. There are a total of 8 stages, each with many unique and beautiful locations.

The game builds on the perfect combat system that has become the standard for many fighting games today. It gives us a very realistic feeling of fighting with punches, kicks, grappling and weapons.

Streets of Rage 2 is not a simple game. You start with 3 lives but can find more by getting more lives or getting a higher score. When you run out of lives, you can use continue. The game allows 2 continues, when they run out, the game ends. This rule is cruel because you return to the starting point and lose all your game progress.

There are so many enemies and bosses that you have to learn their different skill sets. Some can even block your attacks, for example some enemies will punch back if you try to kick high. You can choose several different characters, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. All the characters look great and play very well, like they’re straight out of an 80’s action movie.
