We’ve been waiting a long time for Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl on Nintendo Switch, and now it’s finally here after 13 years. This is truly a great game that you rarely see these days. It combines first-person shooter mechanics with an open world, and for the most part it succeeds, despite some technical limitations and design choices, but everything has been fixed in this Switch version.

You start out as someone called “The Marked One”, and your goal is to figure out what’s going on in the game’s setting called “The Zone”, a radioactive wasteland surrounding the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Inhabiting the small zones that make up the entirety of “The Zone” are all sorts of strange mutant creatures. You’ll encounter various military factions, and you basically follow the main storyline to unravel the mystery of why they’re even there in the first place.
