Bandai Namco officially released the One Piece Odyssey Deluxe Edition on Switch on 07/25 and now you can download the ROM for this game to play for free on modded Switch or emulators.

ONE PIECE ODYSSEY was first released on 01/12/2023 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the One Piece franchise. It is an open-world JRPG with turn-based combat. Notably, this Deluxe Edition comes with extra content including new Scenarios and Costumes.

The story is quite simple and familiar – Monkey D. Luffy (also known as Straw Hat Luffy) is exploring the New World with his Straw Hat Pirates crew looking for a new island when they suddenly get caught in a storm that sinks their ship. Then, each member wakes up and finds themselves washed up on a tropical island, battered by fierce storms.

Separated from his crew, Luffy now has to embark on a new journey – finding his friends and escaping this island.

Odyssey stands out from previous entries, which were usually more focused on action-adventure, by being a very traditional turn-based JRPG. Basically gameplay is played up between exploring very linear levels and interacting with characters to advance quests and turn-based strategical combat. You can very evidently feel the DNA from Dragon Quest 11 in Odyssey, and certainly, the battle system and gameplay mechanics promise a fantastic experience.

The game looks really gorgeous. While it may not seem at first glance, seeing it in action this is undoubtedly the most beautiful One Piece game to date, especially regarding its environments. It will make players enjoy exploring iconic locations of the series.

The soundtrack is composed by legendary game composer Motoi Sakuraba. Although it doesn’t have a One Piece-like feel, it made me feel like I was playing a Tales game – with one of the best composers in the industry,
