The plot begins with the eponymous protagonist, Bayonetta, as a young witch called Cereza in this prequel to the Bayonetta series.

The video game Bayonetta Origins is within the action-adventure genre. The player controls Cereza, a young witch, and Cheshire, a demon ensnared in her stuffed animal. Cereza and Cheshire may be controlled simultaneously with the left Joy-Con and the right Joy-Con, respectively. You may choose between two modes with Cheshire. Hug mode reduces him to a toy size, allowing Cereza to carry and utilize him for many purposes, while Unleashed mode causes him to expand to a big size, allowing him to attack foes or obstacles.

In order to defeat opponents and overcome environmental problems, the player must employ Cereza and Cheshire together. In battle, Cheshire fights adversaries while Cereza uses spells to bind them. Although Cheshire is unkillable in battle, he can lose his magical supply if he continues to fight. Before Cereza can utilize him again in combat, she must retrieve him in Hug form so he can regain his magic. By breaking Elemental Cores scattered about the landscape, players may enhance Cheshire’s skills, giving them a fighting advantage and unlocking previously inaccessible regions to explore.
