Axiom Verge ROM Description

The protagonist, Trace, is a scientist who ends up on the planet of Sudra after an experiment goes awry in the 2D Metroidvania platform shooter Axiom Verge. The unleashing of the “Pathogen” caused the downfall of Trace’s civilization by the time he reached Sudra. Trace must repel the invaders and make her way back to Earth via The Breach with the assistance of the Russalki, gigantic battle machines that protect Sudra.

Trace can freely move throughout the open environment of Sudra, but she can’t advance without stronger weapons and gear. The objects Trace finds along the route can be used to open passageways that lead to various places. Additionally, this requires going backward. Some examples of such things include the Grapple, the Address Disruptor, the Modified Labcoat, the Laser Drill, and the Remote Drone. Hidden passages can be unlocked with certain weaponry. There isn’t a single energy-based weapon on the market that needs ammunition. Discovering all the hidden areas also yields health and weapon upgrades. You can complete the game totally if you want to, however you can find most of the weapons you need in a linear playthrough, and backtracking is required for that.

Areas on Sudra have different amounts of alien flora and fauna. Once the enemy departs from the area, they will respawn. They take some health with them when they die.
