Sometime before the events, the Osean Federation built an international space elevator known as the “Lighthouse” on the Usean continent to aid in rebuilding the continent after the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid fragments fell and the ensuing Continental War. The elevator construction caused tensions between Osea and the Kingdom of Erusea, the largest country on the Usean continent, which believed that Osea was trying to control the entire Usean continent through the space elevator. This resulted in an attack by Erusean UAVs on Osea’s major military facilities and Erusea’s seizure of the space elevator. Erusea also took control of two large drone carrier airships known as “Arsenal Birds” to protect the space elevator and control the airspace over a significant part of the Usean continent.

The war catches Trigger at the airbase on Fort Grays Island, which is raided by Erusean bombers, and he and other Osean aircraft have to repel the raid. After that was the battle over the Scofield Plateau, where Trigger first encountered Erusean drones, it became known that former Osean President Vincent Harling was hiding on the space elevator and it was decided to start a raid towards the space elevator, but over the tropical forests in the Chopinburg region, the first clash with one of the “Arsenal Birds” occurs, forcing the Oseans to retreat with losses.
