Mortal Kombat ROM for PS Vita has all the same modes and features as the home version, including downloadable DLC characters on PSN and Xbox Live. All are included for free in this version of Mortal Kombat. A new challenge tower also takes advantage of the Vita’s accelerometer and touchscreen. The entire story mode of the previous Mortal Kombat has been fully ported to the PlayStation Vita. The CGI scenes on the Vita look a bit lackluster compared to the home version, but they are still beautiful.

If you played the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat, you will easily get used to the Vita version. Almost everything is identical in terms of gameplay with physical controls, although NetherRealm Studios has added touch controls for X-ray moves as well as Fatality. You can now perform the X-ray move by tapping the X icon in the corner of the touch screen. This will trigger the same X-ray move as on home systems, although you can still use the physical buttons.

You can also use the touch screen to perform Fatality instead of pressing various navigation buttons. Just swipe the screen in combination with the buttons on the Vita to perform Fatality. The biggest change in Mortal Kombat for Vita is the addition of a new challenge tower with 150 additional challenges. There are two new challenge modes: Test Your Slice, based on Fruit Ninja with bloody body parts, and Test Your Balance, which uses the Vita’s accelerometer to keep the character on a rope.
