Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is like an expansion to the SNES game Yoshi Island. Basically, we get a bit more story, a bunch of new mechanics, multiplayer, and a whole lot of cuteness. Yes, that’s how Nintendo made this fantastic game for the 3DS system.

As is the tradition in Yoshi games, Kamek the witch appears at the beginning of the game. He used magic and disassembled all of Yoshi’s friends into small balls of wool, then took them and flew away. Thus, your adventure begins. Your mission is to go through the levels to pick up every item and every corner you can find. Yoshi’s equivalent of shards are scattered around the map, and once you find five in each level, you can use magic to bring your friend back.

The gameplay of Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World uses core elements of the original Yoshi series. You will be able to control and switch between two characters, Yoshi or Poochy, in fun and challenging platformer levels. Each character has some special skills. For example, Yoshi has the ability to eat enemies and spawn eggs to attack, while Poochy has a brave head as he can rush forward to break obstacles.

The challenge of the Yoshi games is not the individual stages but the collectibles. The game really encourages you to discover all the little secrets. Getting there is okay; actually, getting there can be a challenge for some people. But completing a level fully is very satisfying. And when you complete a level perfectly, your reward is the resurrection of a Yoshi friend.
