Mario and Luigi games first appeared in 2003 with Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. It takes the Mario series in a promising new direction by changing the style quite a bit, taking us to new worlds, meeting new villains, and adding new gameplay mechanics.

The Mario and Luigi franchise continues to expand with new adventure ideas and gameplay mechanics that keep us looking forward to more. And not to disappoint you, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam on Nintendo 3DS marks a giant leap for this game series.

The basic plot is that the world of Paper Mario is located in a book in Mario’s real world. An unexpected accident causes it to escape into the real world of Mario and Luigi, causing panic and allowing both the real and paper Bowser to meet. They teamed up to create an evil plan to dominate the Real Mushroom Kingdom and, eventually, the Paper Mushroom Kingdom.

The gameplay is like any other Mario & Luigi, allowing you to enter battles with enemies around the map and take turns using attacks to take them down.

You’ll unlock some combo attacks between Mario and Luigi in unique ways or even a triple attack when you add Paper Mario, which is great fun. Besides attacking, you can also dodge or counterattack enemies when it’s their turn to attack or trigger special events that require you to dodge by using Paper Mario.

One of the significant additions to battles is the Battle Card system. They work like this: You receive star points from successfully attacking enemies and can use them to use Battle Cards. They have pretty helpful effects.

Another big game mechanic is the mission to save the paper toad. There are many paper toads in each situation, and you need to find them all. Many toads have different tricks, and most are very funny. The reason you need paper Toad is so that Toadette has enough workers to build giant paper models.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam inherits the best core elements of the Superstar Saga and takes it to the next level. We have an exciting and funny storyline, deep gameplay, and a lot of other interesting content to explore.
