Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden introduces over 100 characters from all of the DBZ universe. But actually, only 25 characters are playable, including Goku, Future Trunks, Beerus, Goku SSJ God, and Goku SSGSS; they are the main characters. The rest are supporting characters. You can summon them by pressing a button. Some support characters are Gogeta, Goku SSJ4, Vegeta SSJ4, and Golden Frieza. Characters come from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super, and even Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Extreme Butoden’s gameplay is really good and fun for a DBZ-themed fighting game. It is quite easy to play as it applies the same control mechanism to every character. Each character has 3 unique moves and a general move; for example, Goku has Kamehameha, a kaioken that you need to press the button to activate.
