When the world was in darkness, Picori appeared from the sky long ago, bringing the human hero a sword and golden light. With wisdom and courage, the hero defeats the darkness. When peace returned, people worshiped the Picori sword.

Years later, we meet Princess Zelda asking Link to participate in the Picori festival with her, which celebrates the legend of Picori saving Hyrule from darkness. Link agreed and brought the sword made by his grandfather to the prime minister of Hyrule. After explaining the festival and obtaining a new shield, Link witnesses the winner of the sword contest receiving the honor of touching the Picori sword that now seals all evil in Hyrule.

Once inside, Vaati revealed that he intended to open the chest. After defeating several guards, he opened the chest and was horrified to discover that there was no longer a sword inside but only a monster. Vaati unleashes them across Hyrule and decides to curse Princess Zelda simultaneously. Link tries to protect her but is knocked down.

After waking up, Link is tasked with finding the Picori sword and saving Zelda and all of Hyrule. What I liked from the start was that we got to see that Link and Zelda were already close friends before the game’s events. Motivation is the key keyword. As I watched Vaati kill several guards and curse my childhood friend, I felt motivated to avenge both of them and also saw Vaati as a real threat that needed to be eliminated.
